Sildenafil is the active ingredient in Viagra, the prescription drug that Pfizer invented to treat impotence.

The researchers also noted that sildenafil has been known to increase sexual activity in men taking sildenafil and may improve their erectile function.
“Our findings support the hypothesis that sildenafil is a safe and effective treatment for erectile dysfunction,” the study’s lead author Dr. James O’Brien said.
“These findings are consistent with the work showing that sildenafil is associated with a small, modest and relatively modest increase in libido and sexual function.”
